Lakewood Brewing Toasts Fourteen Years on Tap with Anniversary Bash
About this Event
Lakewood Brewing Co. is celebrating 14 years on taps across Texas with a full afternoon of craft beer, live music, local vendors and food from the Lakewood kitchen on Saturday, August 29. The anniversary bash is free, family-friendly and open to everyone, and a unique chance to sample or take home the brewery’s limited-edition beers from the present and the past.
This year’s anniversary beer is Lion’s Share XIV, an American Barley Wine brewed especially for the occasion. Guests can purchase an Anniversary Tasting Card to sample a selection of special anniversary beers and take home their own commemorative Lion’s Share tasting glass.
Lakewood’s 14th Anniversary Party will also include beer poking, a centuries-old technique that uses a heated brewing poker to caramelize the sugars in the beer. Lakewood owner Wim Bens and members of the brewing team will be on hand to talk about Lion’s Share XIV and the Lion’s Shares that came before, as well as answer questions and share a look at how the beer was made.
Robin Lore will kick off the live music at noon, followed by Penny and the Flame Throwers at 4 p.m. Participating vendors will include Inked by Cherry, offering limited-edition XIV flash tattoos from noon to 4 p.m. Dead Wax Records will spin and sell vinyl inside the production brewery from 1 to 6 p.m., while T-Rex Pickles and Married to Sugar will be there throughout the day with specialty creations made using Lakewood beers.
