Celebrate America’s 250th birthday at one of the South’s favorite Fourth of July traditions during Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 4, 2026!
Hosted by Capital City/Lake Murray Country and presented by Lexington Health, this annual patriotic celebration brings thousands of residents and visitors to Lake Murray for an unforgettable evening of fireworks, family traditions, and summertime memories on the water.
Recognized by Southern Living as one of the “Top 10 Places to Celebrate the 4th of July Like a Local” and named one of the “Best July 4th Events Across the South” by StyleBlueprint, Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration continues to shine as one of the Southeast’s premier Independence Day events.
This celebration will feature two spectacular fireworks shows launched from Spence and Dreher Islands over Lake Murray. Spectators are encouraged to experience the fireworks by boat for the full Lake Murray experience, but several land-based viewing opportunities will also be available.
Fireworks Viewing Options
-By boat on Lake Murray – The best way to experience the show!
Dreher Island State Park – Public viewing available; normal park admission and parking fees apply ($6 adults; $3.75 SC Seniors [age 65 & older]; $3.50 children age 6-15; ages 5 & under free).
-Pine Island State Park – Family-friendly fireworks viewing event from 7:30 PM to 10:30 PM Admission is $25 per vehicle through online registration only, and space is limited.
-Lake Murray Public Park (Irmo side): Fireworks viewing access available on a first-come, first-served basis. The park will close once it reaches capacity.
-Lake Murray Public Park (Lexington side): Public viewing available; normal park admission fees and reservation system applies ($5 for vehicles – single day use). Ticket holders will be allowed to remain in the park throughout the duration of the fireworks show.
The fireworks display will once again be synchronized to a patriotic concert airing live on 93.1 The Lake through Midlands Media Group. Attendees are encouraged to listen through a traditional FM radio, as online streaming may experience delays that could impact synchronization with the fireworks show.
Can’t make it to the lake? WIS will livestream the fireworks celebration live on WIS.com the night of the event.
Lake Murray’s Independence Day Celebration is made possible each year through the support of community donations, sponsors, and the ongoing efforts of Capital City/Lake Murray Country. Funding for the annual fireworks celebration is generated through Taste of Lake Murray, the sole fundraiser for the patriotic event.
A rain date for the fireworks celebration is scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026.
