The Lake District National Park in Cumbria is famous for its glacial ribbon lakes and rugged fell mountains. It is spectacularly beautiful. This will be Love To Hike's fifth long weekend staying on a full board basis at Glaramara Hotel in Borrowdale. Glaramara Hotel is extremely popular with hikers and securing accommodation is more challenging than climbing Scafell Pike.The plan for the long Bank Holiday weekend is:
· To travel by car to the Lake District on the Friday morning leaving a London zone 1-6 nominated by your driver at 0700 returning to the same station on the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday.
· Not less than four Love To Hikes in Borrowdale (Saturday's and Bank Holiday Monday's are both subject to the prevailing weather conditions which may necessitate some lower alternative routes for safety reasons).
· Friday afternoon - Friar’s Drag and Castlehead as well as the pre-historic Castlerigg Stone Circle (11 kilometres);
· Saturday - Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain (19 kilometres);
· Sunday - Crummock Water including Scale Force waterfall, the highest in the Lake District (16 kilometres) and optional afternoon Love To Hike along the flat shoreline circuit of Lake Buttermere (7 kilometres) with the option to extend to climb Hay Stacks (12 kilometres);
· Bank Holiday morning - Green Gable & Great Gable (9 kilometres)
· Three nights dinner, bed & breakfast ensuite accommodation at Glaramara Hotel
· Three 'fit-for-hikers' packed lunches
