Lincoln Association for the Traditional Arts (LAFTA) presents an evening of songs and stories with Nebraska singer-songwriter, Daniel Christian, featuring stalwarts of the local folk scene, Steve Hanson & Jim Pipher!
Steve Hanson has recorded and toured with C. W. McCall, doing all the banjo work in the hit movie, CONVOY. He composed scores for numerous PBS documentaries and commercial jingles (with Brad Colerick) for Sears and IHOP. In 1992, Steve took first place in the Telluride Bluegrass Festival banjo contest, and second place in both guitar and mandolin. Steve has received the City of Lincoln’s Mayor’s Arts Award for performance, and In 2000, he was inducted into the Nebraska Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
Jim Pipher has toured the United States and Canada as a solo artist and as a member of numerous bands. He is a talented songwriter and his original tunes are showcased on two solo recordings: A TORMENTED GENIUS and THE LAST TALL TREE. Jim works frequently as a session musician and side man. He has produced, engineered and played on a number of recordings by many of the area’s best musicians. Jim has received numerous awards including being twice inducted into the Nebraska Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
For nearly twenty years, Daniel Christian has shared his songs and stories across the nation, entertaining audiences at Bluebird Cafe (Nashville), Eddie’s Attic (Atlanta), Country Stampede (Manhattan KS), and the SXSW festival (Austin).
