Please join us to help spread the word: Lafayette is coming back to Baltimore!

A hero of two worlds, Major General Lafayette, who served in the Continental Army under George Washington, returned from France to America in 1824-1825 and helped renew the gratitude of its citizens for America’s hard-fought freedom won during the Revolutionary War. When he left after his 13-month, 6000-mile, 24-state Farewell Tour, his name lived on. We have Fayette and Lafayette Streets here in Baltimore due to his 1824 visit!

Two hundred years later, The American Friends of Lafayette invite you to help launch the bicentennial celebration of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour, Baltimore-style.

Join us for a fundraising event at the Carroll Mansion, 800 E. Lombard Street--where Lafayette dined in 1825:

  • Learn the essential story of Lafayette’s Life & Legacy from the award-winning Lafayette Traveling Panel display
  • Taste savory French-American hors d’oeuvres + delicious just-released Williamsburg Winery blends for Lafayette Bicentennial
  • Hear local opera singer Laura Heydt perform selections from Le Mariage d’Anotino by Lucile Grétry as heard by Lafayette
  • Shop for Lafayette merchandise
  • Enjoy a video sneak preview of our roster of free + ticketed Baltimore Lafayette Bicentennial events + book October event tickets early as venue space is limited for many of these events
