Ladies only - Introduction to Navigation (half day course)

The aim of this fun, practical half day course is to help you understand the basics so that you'll gain the skills and confidence to plan your own walks.

Topics covered will include:-

Identifying features

Understanding map scales

Measuring distance

Orientation

Finding direction

Introduction to the compass

We will spend the first half of the morning indoors (or outdoors, if the weather allows) looking at the maps, understanding features and planning a route (with coffee!). The rest of the morning will be spent 'hands-on' outdoors around the beautiful Whitegate Way, applying what we have learned and following the route that we have planned together - with loads of opportunities to ask questions!

Maps and compasses will be provided so you'll just need to bring a pen, some paper to make notes, your usual walking gear and some water.
