The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County (PLYMC) will host its annual Ladies in Little Black Dresses for Literacy fundraiser on June 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM at The Lake Club in Poland, Ohio. This signature event brings the community together for an evening of elegance, connection, and purpose, all in support of literacy initiatives that make a lasting impact across the Mahoning Valley. This year’s event will benefit the library’s Summer Discovery program, a vital initiative designed to combat the “summer slide," the learning loss that can occur when school is out of session. Each summer, Summer Discovery opens the door to learning, imagination, and opportunity for thousands of children, teens, and adults throughout the community.
These numbers tell a powerful story. They represent children discovering the joy of reading, families learning and growing together, and adults strengthening lifelong literacy habits. Summer Discovery is about more than books. It’s about building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning that lasts well beyond the summer months.
By attending Ladies in Little Black Dresses for Literacy, guests directly support these transformative experiences and help ensure that access to literacy remains strong and accessible for all.
Cash bar and raffles are also available.
