🎶💰 LabX: Monetizing Original Music is a workshop for anyone creating original music, cover the topics of music rights, royalties, sync licenses, publishing, and radio vs streaming. Whether you are just starting out or an experienced song-writer or producer, this workshop will fill the holes in your knowledge and ensure you are not missing out on sources of revenue when you create and release original music.
Paul Cargnello (Montreal) is a self-taught singer/song-writer and producer, having released more than 20 albums to his name. Paul's early days in the 90s saw him tour across Canada with political punk reggae band The Vendettas, and later on as a solo artist his first big hit "Une roise noir" broke through the top 10 commercial charts and formed the beginning of his numerous awards, accolades, and musical successes. In addition to writing and releasing music, as a solo artist as well as for film & TV, he also started Upper China Studios and has produced albums for numerous other artists.
Christopher “C The Reason” Cargnello is one of those rare multi-instrumentalist producers who is equally comfortable writing an afrobeats banger or arranging for a 17-piece jazz orchestra. In 2023, he produced Sovereignty, the debut album of Burundian-Canadian singer Aiza, which held a 28-week run on the national college and community radio charts, peaking at #2 in Hip Hop and #10 in the Top 50. He has composed for and his music has appeared in TV, film, and advertising (CBC, Nickelodeon, Microsoft, UPS, Malibu Rum, Google, Subaru, etc).
