Laboratory Skills & Biotechnology Skills Bootcamp With Bioinformatics

This fully funded course is designed to help you build practical laboratory skills, understand modern biotechnology and gain an introduction to bioinformatics.

Throughout the bootcamp, you’ll complete a wide range of hands-on experiments selected for their relevance to today’s scientific and biotechnology industries. You’ll gain practical experience in key techniques including PCR, gel electrophoresis, microbiology, ELISA and Western blotting, helping you understand both the theory and real-world applications behind them.

You’ll also be introduced to bioinformatics and explore how biological data can be used alongside laboratory techniques in modern scientific research and industry.

The bootcamp runs from 8:30am to 4:30pm over 10 days, including a one-hour lunch break. During the course, you’ll complete 60 guided learning hours, receive continuous assessment and get personalised feedback from experienced lecturers to help you improve and progress.

This course is ideal for:

  • Biology graduates or students preparing to enter the industry
  • Early career scientists looking to strengthen their practical skills
  • Non-biology graduates interested in transitioning into laboratory-based roles
  • Technicians supporting scientific research or laboratory work
  • Experienced professionals looking for a practical refresher
  • Learners interested in understanding how laboratory science and bioinformatics work together

By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident using essential laboratory techniques, have a clearer understanding of introductory bioinformatics and be better prepared for job applications, interviews and real laboratory environments.
