LA River Urban Ecology Sunset/Night Walk

Elysian Valley Gateway Park | Los Angeles, CA

About this Event
We'll explore our local environment as the landscape shifts from day to sunset to night, learning about the ways in which both flora and fauna shift along with it. Walking along one of the LA River's best bat, frog, night heron, and goose rookery habitats, we'll also explore the ways in which our own eyes adjust (or don't) to darkness.
And of course, we'll learn about the LA River itself, it's past, present, and hopeful future. Including the lesson the River can teach us about our relationship with nature and community in light of recent local dissasters, both natural and political.
We will avoid using headlamps or any other light source as much as possible, but the full moon plus bike path lighting along the river will easily illuminate our path.
