About this Event
**LOCATION WILL BE EMAILED TWO DAYS BEFORE THE HIKE. It is along the Los Angeles River in the Elysian Valley/Frogtown neighborhood.
Yes SoCal has seasons! There are numerous native California trees that change color (mostly to yellow) before dropping their leaves for the fall, but the type of habitat where they used to grow was mostly removed in the name of urban "progress".
You can still see many of them along the LA River though, so join me on an easy around and down in the River basin to learn about these trees, the science of leaf color change, and about the history and hopeful future of our Los Angeles River.
I happen to think the Los Angeles River is one of the best classrooms to learn from our past environmental mistakes and use those lessons to advocate for a better future, including what it can teach us about our relationship with nature and community in light of recent local dissasters, like the LA Fires.
