David Brubaker and Miryana Moteva have been collaborating musically since 2019. They have played numerous recitals at most major music venues in the Twin Cities, including Antonello Hall at MacPhail Center for Music, Sundin Hall at Hamline University, Lloyd Ultan Recital Hall at University of Minnesota, and the Schubert Club. They have also appeared on the Bulgarian Concert Evenings Chamber Series in New York City and the Mozaika Series in New Jersey. In addition to performing music from the classical canon, Brubaker and Moteva work actively with living composers to enrich the violin and piano duo repertoire. Their most recent commission - the Sonata for Violin and Piano ‘Death and Spring’ by rising star Catalonian composer Marc Migo, was met with great acclaim at its premiere on Schubert Club’s Courtroom Series in April 2023. Next spring, the duo will embark on a concert tour of Spain, which will culminate in recording a Catalan Music CD on the IBS Classical music label.
Aside from their performances as a duo, Brubaker and Moteva enjoy versatile solo and orchestral careers. Brubaker has been a member of Minnesota Orchestra’s first violin section since 2003, where he has also served as assistant principal second and associate concertmaster. He has played with the Tucson, Grand Rapids, Oregon, Pacific and Houston Symphonies, and every summer, he joins the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra in Jackson, Wyoming. Moteva enjoys performing both as a chamber musician and as a soloist with orchestras in Minnesota. Additionally, she serves on the faculty of MacPhail Center for Music, where she maintains a thriving piano studio.
