¡Rumberos! The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal is just around the corner and to celebrate we are bringing you classics coming all the way from "La Capital del Mundo" that kickstarted the fire, unity, and social consciousness that makes salsa so special. 🌶💃🏾
New York City, played a pivotal role in the evolution of both boogaloo and salsa. In the 60s, boogaloo emerged as a vibrant fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms, soul, and R&B, reflecting the diverse musical influences of the city's neighborhoods. This genre not only got people dancing but also served as a voice for social change and unity among different communities. The 70s saw the rise of salsa, which became a symbol of pride and identity for the Latino community. Its beats and melodies brought people together, fostering a sense of belonging across the city's multicultural landscape.
In this spirit of social consciousness and subculture, and to honour the closing of Pride month, our poster this month is also inspired by one of New York’s most vibrant artists and activists: Keith Haring!
Closing the night with a 100% Vinyl DJ-Set, we'll have our good friend from Tumbao, DJ RHYTHM & HUES!!
Don't miss out on this Jazz Fest after party.
Nos vemos Pronto!
