LA Mental Health Professionals Community-Building Hike

Are you a mental health professional looking to build more community with other folks in the field? Join us for a morning of hiking and connection with other mental health professionals from Greater Los Angeles and the SF Valley. This is an "un-networky" networking event - our purpose is to foster authentic, human-to-human connections between attendees. So come just as you are - everyone is accepted and welcomed here! We'll meet at Franklin's Cafe in Griffith Park on Saturday January 24th at 10:00 AM. More details are below - see you there!

When: Saturday, January 24th, at 10 am. We'll wait until 10:15 and then walk up to the Riverside trailhead to start the hike.

Where: Griffith Park. We'll meet at Franklin's Cafe (2650 N Vermont Ave). There's an outdoor area where we will circle up before the hike, which starts very close to the cafe.

Parking: There is street parking along Vermont Ave as well as a lot next to Franklin's Cafe. There is also another lot north of the Greek Theatre, which is very close to where we are meeting. Arriving early/carpooling with other therapists is encouraged as Saturdays can be busy in Griffith Park.

How long is the hike? We'll do an “out-and-back” hike to the Vista Viewpoint that is about 3 miles total. This is not a flat trail - there is incline throughout the hike. However, this event is more about connecting with each other than powering up the hills! We will take our time and take breaks.

What to wear: Something comfortable that you can hike in. Athletic shoes are recommended.

Who: Any and all mental health professionals are invited! This includes therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and students preparing to enter the field. If you are in an "adjacent" specialty (such as a registered dietician or acupuncturist) we welcome that too! Feel free to email us to ask if you are not sure whether to join.

RSVP: Please sign up via Eventbrite so that we can get a rough headcount of who is coming.

Can I bring my dog? Yes - as long as they are on a leash (per Griffith Park rules). We love furry friends!

Can I bring a colleague? Of course, the more the merrier!

Want to grab lunch/coffee after the hike? Whoever is interested can continue to hang out at Franklin's Cafe after the hike.
