About La Lomita Wines

Kissed daily by cool coastal fog, La Lomita Wines embrace the distinct terroir of Edna Valley, and is the only Edna Valley estate vineyard planted on the slopes of an ancient Volcanic Peak, Islay Hill. The first of the Nine Sister Morros in a 12 mile chain stretching West to the Pacific Ocean.

La Lomita Wines are made with the intention to tell a story about their origins, the people who farm them, and with as little intervention as possible to truly reflect each vintage and its unique growing season. All La Lomita Wines are native yeast fermented and bottled with no finings or filteration.

Meet our Winemaker, Mikey Giugni

Mikey makes wines with intent, love, and a deep respect for the land, carrying with them the spirit of the place in which they come. When he was younger he recalls visiting his grandparents in Napa and stared at the rows of vines as they drove north. Years later while at Cal Poly, Mikey fell in love with the Edna Valley.

Looking for an excuse to stay in town he got a job at Chamisal Vineyards and quickly was engulfed by the world of wine. Mikey has drawn inspiration from the people he has met, the places he has visited and most of all the wines he drinks and the foods he eats.

His personal style is inspired by the Old World, from a simpler time, when less was more. He believes that wine is made in the vineyard and it is his job to showcase its terroir and vintage transparently.

Mikey make wines with intent, love, and a deep respect for the land, carrying with them the spirit of the place in which they come.

About La Lomita Ranch

Connectivity and rare beauty – Islay Hill embodies them both as the ninth in an ancient string of volcanic peaks stretching across California’s Central Coast. Once part of the 31,000 acres Corral de Piedra land grant, Islay Hill overlooks La Lomita Ranch’s bed and breakfast, wedding and events venue, inviting visitors to connect with its roots.

Originally a farm that spanned 700 acres, La Lomita Ranch was first developed by Princess Marieta and Prince Zourab. Hailing from the Spanish island of Mallorca, the enchanting Marieta earned international acclaim for breeding Arabian horses here at La Lomita Ranch.

It was her, Princess Marieta, who sparked the flame of California Romantica at La Lomita Ranch. Exquisitely beautiful with an understated elegance, her luminous spirit is embodied throughout the property, charming guests with a promise of romance and the echo of nostalgia.

Decades later, La Lomita Ranch is a reimagined events venue welcoming guests and couples from around the globe to paint new memories; a bed & breakfast where each custom crafted room exudes the elegance of California Romantica—colorful Talavera tiles accent the architecture indoors while vibrant gardens brighten the surrounding grounds; and winery & vineyard with the unique hillside terroir of Isaly Hill, the first in an ancient string of volcanic peaks know as morros stretching across California’s Central Coast. Every space is a rare masterpiece with a charm all its own, a styled tribute to our Spanish founders.
