Join us for Dia de los Muertos Face Painting for Beginners. The workshop is taught by returning artist Elizabeth Piña. In this workshop, you will learn how to create a beautiful traditional catrina/catrin make-up, as used throughout Mexico during our Dia de los Muertos Celebrations, itself a millennial tradition.

La Catrina Art Workshops series is inspired by The Day of the Dead. Your participation will help fund the Sherman Heights year round activities including free arts & culture programming.

About our workshop Instructor: Elizabeth Piña
Mrs. Piña has a Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State University in Applied Arts and Sciences with an emphasis in Graphic Design and earned a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit. She grew up in sunny Mexicali, Mexico. She immigrated to San Diego when she was nine years old. She has an older sister Alma and a younger brother Ruben. Elizabeth is happily happily married to Jorge Piña and has one daughter Frida Piña. She is eight years old and she loves to explore, dance, and learn.
Please note that the safety and health of our staff and community members is a priority. Masks will be required for all who participate in Día de los Muertos in-person indoor offerings, including vaccinated visitors. Masks are strongly encouraged for our outdoors offerings, with the exception of our “Candle-light Procession” which will be a masked event for all participants.
