Beat the August heat and join the LA biotech community for our next adventure at Chantry Flats! We'll explore shaded forest trails, cross a refreshing creek & waterfuall, and, for those looking for a challenge, climb to the breathtaking summit of Mount Wilson.
📅 Date: Saturday, August 8
📍 Meet: 5:45 a.m. at the Chantry Flats monument located at the parking lot entrance & shown in the LA Biotech Hikes group picture.
🚶 Hike starts: 6:00 a.m. sharp
🎟️ Required: An Adventure Pass (please purchase in advance; available at REI and other authorized retailers).
Choose your adventure from 3 options:
🥾 Mod-Easy: Sturtevant Falls
• ~3.5 miles round trip
• ⛰️ ~700 ft elevation gain
• ⏱️ ~2 hours
🥾 Moderate: Sturtevant Camp
• ~10 miles round trip
• ⛰️ ~1,700 ft elevation gain
• ⏱️ ~5 hours
🥾 Very Hard: Mount Wilson Summit
• ~14.5 miles round trip
• ⛰️ ~4,200 ft elevation gain
• ⏱️ ~6–9 hours
Whether you're looking for a relaxed waterfall hike or a summit challenge, there's an option for everyone. Come connect with fellow biotech professionals, enjoy the outdoors, and start your Friday with fresh air, great conversations, and an unforgettable hike.
🍳 Breakfast plans will be decided by each group after the hike based on their route and finish time. For those who summit Mt. Wilson, there is the Cosmic Cafe where sandwiches and sweet treats are provided by Little Flower in Pasadena.
