About this Event

You're invited to join Mayor London Breed and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) as we celebrate the completion of the L Taraval Improvement Project. This major multiagency project is helping to revitalize one of San Francisco’s busiest corridors from West Portal to the ocean with safer, more reliable train service, accessibility improvements, upgraded utilities, artwork and new landscaping. It's a celebration of connecting communities and making Taraval Street safer and more inviting for everyone who uses it.

When: Thursday, September 26, 2024, 11 a.m.
Where: McCoppin Square, Taraval Street and 23rd Avenue

The ribbon cutting will take place on the south side of McCoppin Square Park, in the grassy area near the basketball courts.

Please plan on arriving at least 10-15 minutes early to check in and visit the project and history displays. The ceremony will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. with brief remarks from Mayor London Breed and other special guests. Then we will mark the completion of this critical project with the ribbon cutting and inaugural train ride.

Please click the "Reserve a Spot" button to RSVP.

This is an outdoor event, please dress accordingly. Comfortable, closed-toe shoes are recommended, as guests will be standing in a grassy area in McCoppin Square. There will be very limited seating available with priority for people with accessibility needs.

This event is accessible by Muni, including the L Taraval Bus and 28 19th Avenue/28R 19th Avenue Rapid routes.

For more information, visit SFMTA.com/LTaraval or email [email protected].

When will L Taraval trains be open to the public?

L Taraval rail service is scheduled to open to the public the morning of Saturday, September 28. The ribbon cutting event is scheduled before public rail service begins so as not to interfere with rail operations.
