L CON is the ever-evolving project of Lisa Conway - a composer, sonic adventurer, songwriter, researcher, recordist, producer, and mixer currently based in Montréal. Her work is often minimalist: analog synthesizers, drum machines, and electronics are paired with woodwinds or strings and orchestral arrangements, drawing comparisons to Jenny Hval, Agnes Obel, and Bjork.
An artist who continually tries to push herself into the unfamiliar, her multifaceted CV includes original scores and songs for documentaries, short films, and theatre productions, site-specific multi-channel sound and light installations, collaborations with contemporary dancers and performance artists, and an array of renowned creative residencies. She is an alumni of the final Red Bull Music Academy (Berlin), and the Canadian Film Centre's Music Residency, with recent album releases on Halocline Trance and Idée Fixe. Lisa's solo releases as L CON have received positive press from publications like The Fader, the CBC, Uproxx, Tiny Mix Tapes, Exclaim, and Earmilk. She has collaborated on and contributed to performances and films presented at TIFF, the D’Haus (Dusseldorf), The Harbourfront Centre, the Summerworks festival, Hot Docs, and the Inside Out Festival.

JAMES IRWIN writes songs with a plainspoken beauty in the spirit of Gillian Welch or Bill Callahan. With a voice often likened to Arthur Russell’s, he shares Russell’s curiosity for any and all genres. Despite fifteen years of shifting from outsider folk to low-fi 80s pop to cosmic country, the mood and lyrical voice of his music has always been unmistakable. Bandmates used to call it Jamesing.

After a decade making music in Montreal, James left for Toronto to write a novel about growing up in a religious commune in Oklahoma.With the novel nearly done and over 70 new songs to record, this spring is a return to music for James.

Rocket Science Room is on the second floor. There is a single flight of stairs off the main entrance with no wheelchair access, however there is a functioning elevator on the main floor.
