Join us for the one and only Boston area screening of Laszlo Csaki’s movie : Kek Pelikan (Pelican Blue)! In 1990s Hungary, with the fall of the Iron Curtain, Hungary’s borders suddenly open up. Traveling West is finally possible but unaffordable. But what good is freedom if you cannot afford it?
Three young men, Ákos, Petya, and Laci discover a simple method of using household detergents to dissolve Pelikan Blue's carbon ink, allowing them to forge train tickets to any destination. Over time, they become professional and infamous forgery artists, allowing a whole generation to experience the outside world. For a while, everything goes smoothly, but when the police start an investigation, the friends discover that freedom comes at a price…
This animated film for adults, based on real events, is a true journey back in time, with plenty of humor and period music.
