Galerie hlavního města Prahy, Ústav teoretické a aplikované mechaniky AV ČR, v.v.i. a spolek Art a craft Mozaika, z.s. pořádají ve dnech 8.–9. října 2026 odborný seminář Kámen, město, papír: Mozaiky – problematické dědictví, zaměřený na evropskou mozaikovou tvorbu během období nesvobody ve 20. století. Akce se uskuteční v Domě U Kamenného zvonu na Staroměstském náměstí v Praze. Budova bohužel není bezbariérová.
Konference se zaměřuje na roli mozaiky v propagandě autoritářských a totalitních režimů, na organizační a umělecké aspekty její výroby a proměny veřejného prostoru prostřednictvím státem řízené monumentální výzdoby. Dotkne se též současné reinterpretace politicky zatížených děl, restaurátorských přístupů a materiálových i technologických aspektů mozaikové tvorby ve 20. století a její budoucnost.
Akce je určena odborné i laické veřejnosti. Příspěvky přednesou čeští i zahraniční odborníci (Slovensko, Chorvatsko, Německo, Polsko, Itálie, Maďarsko, Rakousko, Francie, Ukrajina). Jednacími jazyky budou čeština a angličtina se simultánním překladem.

Prague City Gallery, the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i., and the Art a craft Mozaika association, z.s., are organising a specialist seminar on 8–9 October 2026 entitled Stone, City, Paper: Mosaics – A Problematic Legacy, focusing on European mosaic art during periods of oppression in the 20th century. The event will take place at the Stone Bell House on Old Town Square in Prague.
The conference will examine the role of mosaics in the propaganda of authoritarian and totalitarian regimes, the organisational and artistic aspects of their production, and the transformation of public space through state-controlled monumental decoration. It will also address the contemporary reinterpretation of politically charged works, restoration approaches, and the material and technological aspects of mosaic art in the 20th century, as well as its future.
The event is aimed at both specialists and the general public. Presentations will be given by Czech and international experts (from Slovakia, Croatia, Germany, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Austria, France and Ukraine). The conference languages will be Czech and English with simultaneous translation.
