Mother Nature wins. Sorry, we will be postponing the show due to snow. We felt it was an unnecessary risk for our fans. New date: Sunday, May 10
Kyle Ledson has been playing the Crazy Horse since he was 15 years old. Three years ago when he turned 21, we established this event affectionately known as KylePalooza. Now he’s practically an old man as we prepare to celebrate the 4th annual birthday celebration for one of our favorite pickers and people. His band Broken Compass Bluegrass provides the adventurous soundtrack for the occasion. Somehow this won’t be just another “ordinary” BCB show. The birthday boy calls the shots and we’ll happily go along for the ride to whatever corners of the jamgrass galaxy he chooses to voyage.
Right behind puppies and beautiful sunsets, Broken Compass Bluegrass has quickly become the most unanimous musical sensation in the country. We take pride in our homegrown heroes, but we are increasingly having to embrace sharing them with the world. BCB’s meteoric rise is leaving a trail of stardust in its wake. The dust still hasn’t settled from their two-night run here back in December. When they play festivals like High Sierra, Whale Rock and Camp Deep End, as they did last year, they don’t merely “make fans.” They stir people to their core, establishing diehard loyalty which speaks volumes to the overall impact of their music and how easy they are to root for.
It's clear to see how BCB is leading the way in the contemporary bluegrass revival. The quartet combine tradition with innovation in a way that pushes boundaries while maintaining a comforting sense of familiarity. Their live performances are characterized by glorious harmonies, ferocious solos, and an undeniable joy that permeates through every note. Yes, they are very young, which is part of the novelty factor. Yet it’s apparent these are old souls who are already esteemed ambassadors for the bluegrass artform.
BCB has planted its flag on the stages of many iconic music festivals including the High Sierra Music Festival, Strawberry, Winter WonderGrass, Hangtown Halloween, Northwest String Summit, Sugar Pine and Hog Farm Hideaway. This year they landed a very coveted slot among the prestigious lineup at MerleFest in North Carolina. The Crazy Horse has been a home away from home for them since the beginning and always brings out their best. We feel very lucky to have them here every time.
