Hello Krewe,
Our Mardi Gras Float Committee is happy to announce the theme for this year‘s Mardi Gras parade is “Soulard Celebrates Peace, Love, and Mardi Gras”. The parade is on February 14th (Valentine’s Day) and it’s time to start planning for the float. Erica created a Google Form (link below) for submitting your float ideas. It will be due by Friday, August 29th so get your creative thinking caps on, the more unique the better!
Round one:
All of the float ideas will be narrowed down to five at the next member meeting on September 2nd. Each Krewe member at the meeting (with dues paid) will vote on their top five.
Round two:
The five finalists will need to prepare a presentation for the next member meeting on October 7th. The presentation should include: a visual aid and all your ideas for float design, costumes (float riders and wheel walkers), throws, specialty beads, judge’s bribe, and 12th night skit. The Krewe members at the meeting (with dues paid) can vote for their favorite idea. Winner will be our float designer.
Planning and construction will begin in October.
Also the Float Rider fee is $140 again this year which includes costume, beads, and alcohol. Wheel Walkers (depending on the costume) should be in the $30-40 range. If you want to start paying early before the holidays and ball let us know.
