Koprodukční film Rána (2017), který zazářil na festivalu v Sundance a na Berlinale, se odehrává v prostředí Jihoafrické republiky. The co-production film The Wound (2017), which made waves at the Sundance and Berlinale film festivals, is set in South Africa. Through the story of Xolani, a quiet and sensitive factory worker, it offers a glimpse into the life of the South African Xhosa tribe. Every year, young men from the tribe must travel to the Eastern Cape province to undergo a traditional initiation ritual to manhood. In the film, this ancient culture clashes with a modern urban lifestyle and the need to explore one's sexual identity. Director John Trengove’s feature debut dismantles traditional stereotypes surrounding Black masculinity and sensitively portrays the crisis faced by millions of queer people, not only on the African continent.
