Kudos Offsite Presents: 'Phantasmagoria' a two person show featuring Lily Langley and Yvette Nemeth
Welcome to Phantasmagoria, the birth of a new world. Artists Yvette Nemeth and Lily Langley AKA Motormouth Comics present traditional mythology melded with modern narratives to fabricate new myths of healing, trauma, and lived experience.
Yvette Nemeth critiques patriarchal narratives that have villainised women through the demonisation of female sexuality and the perpetuation of rape culture.
Lily Langley AKA Motormouth Comics utilises visual storytelling and character creation to envisage alternate realities, appropriating the masculine laconic figure of the Larrikin to tell narratives of generational trauma, substance abuse, mateship and camaraderie.
Both artists work through a feminist lens to create figurative works which explore narratives of fantasy, escapism and metamorphosis.
