Come and find out all about how Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) can enable businesses to turn knowledge into innovative products and services, and academics to turn research into impact.
For businesses: This showcase will encourage you to consider how KTPs can benefit your business through case study examples from across the University of Leeds' portfolio of projects. Hear from companies and academics who have worked on KTPs, and meet the teams at the University of Leeds who can help you get started on your innovation journey.
For academics: Gain a better understanding of the KTP model. See how KTPs have benefited colleagues and their collaboration partners in the past. Meet colleagues from the KTP team who can discuss your next collaboration.
Refreshments will be provided, and a networking lunch follows the main session.
What is a KTP?
- A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is an innovation project between a University research team and a business, for a duration of between 1 to 3 years.
- The project is designed to stimulate growth in the business. The project transfers knowledge between the partners and generates impact outputs for the University. To undertake the project, the partnership recruits a full-time “KTP Associate”, employed by the University but embedded within the business.
- The project is jointly funded by Innovate UK and the business. The KTP model is the most successful of its type in the UK, having thrived for well over 45 years and a cornerstone of Innovate UK’s grant portfolio.
