Choosing Connection over Correction: Transforming Relationships with Intimacy and Meaning
Couples often fall into the trap of trying to fix each other rather than fostering meaningful connection. This presentation offers practical strategies for shifting the focus from blame to building intimacy, ownership, and shared meaning. Inspired by Martin Buber's philosophy of seeing others as people rather than objects, participants will learn how to transform adversarial dynamics into collaborative, affirming relationships. The goal is to help couples move away from asking, "What’s wrong?" to discovering, "How can we make things right through connection?"
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will learn to recognize and shift behaviors that prioritize correction over fostering meaningful connection in relationships.
Attendees will explore how to use these principles to create stronger emotional bonds and collaborative relationships in couples.
Participants will understand how to help couples view each other as partners rather than adversaries, leading to more affirming and supportive interactions.
Part 2: Peeling Back the Layers: Clinical Social Work Through a Neurobiology and Relational Neuroscience Lens Presented by: Megan Meyerhoffer, LCSW, RPT-S
Megan Meyerhoffer, LCSW, RPT-S, is dedicated to supporting individuals and families across all stages of life as they navigate life's challenges. With a diverse and rich background, including roles as an EMDR Consultant-In-Training, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, and Advanced Practitioner of Being With™ - A Parent Course for Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors, Megan brings a wealth of expertise to her practice. Her approach is grounded in neurobiology and relational neuroscience, ensuring personalized care that meets clients exactly where they are. Megan holds degrees from Spalding University and the University of Louisville Kent School of Social Work and completed Megan Devine’s Grief Care Professional Certificate Program in 2023. Megan is also on a mission to spread the knowledge of what is behind behaviors through the lens of neurobiology and relational neuroscience, empowering others to understand and address the root causes of challenges in meaningful ways.
