Krishna & Culture: A Sunday Museum Meetup at Museum Fünf Kontinente

This Sunday, let's get together for a relaxed afternoon of art, culture and good company at Munich's Museum Fünf Kontinente.

The museum's big special exhibition, "Krishna. Religion, Art and Pop Culture," traces one of Hinduism's most beloved and shape-shifting deities across time — from sacred ritual objects and centuries-old bronzes and paintings, right through to posters and modern pop culture. With over 100 objects, including five magnificent large-format Pichwai textile hangings, an 18th-century portable travel altar, and a dancing Krishna bronze from the 15th century, there's a lot to take in — and even more to talk about.

And it's not just Krishna. Your ticket gets you into the entire museum, so we'll also explore the permanent collections spanning Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania — a genuine journey across five continents under one roof.

✨ Bonus: On this exact Sunday, the museum is offering a curator-led guided tour of the Krishna exhibition at 14:00, led by curator Anne Hartig (Ph.D., Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi). 🎟️ Buy your own ticket at the entrance. Sundays are a steal in Munich: museum entry is just €1, plus the special exhibition fee — roughly €7 total, with student discounts available.

🖼️ Explore together — or at your own pace. We'll wander the exhibitions as a group, but there's zero pressure. Take your time, linger where you like, and go off exploring solo if that's more your style.

🍺 Afterwards, weather permitting, we head to a Biergarten to relax, compare favourite pieces, and chat about what we saw. Good conversation, cold drinks, Bavarian summer — the perfect wrap-up.
