Seifert Jazz Days and Jazz Juniors ➡ Kraków Jazz Week (9-15.10.2023, Cricoteka)
For 47 years, the Jazz Juniors Festival and Jazz Juniors Competition have had an impact on shaping the jazz scene. Since 1976, it has been not only a celebration of music on the jazz map of Poland, but also a meeting of different generations - world-renowned artists with young musicians taking their first steps. For the latter, the Jazz Juniors Competition is a chance both to be noticed by an international group of guests and to make a professional release.
Such famous artists as Leszek Możdżer, Krzysztof Ścierański, Zbigniew Wegehaupt, Marek Bałata, the Niedzielowie brothers, the Pospieszalscy brothers or the bands New Presentation, Walk Away and the cult band Miłość have taken their first steps on the stage of Jazz Juniors.
Since this year, Jazz Juniors has been linked to Seifert Jazz Days, an event of international stature in memory of one of Poland's most important jazz musicians, Zbigniew Seifert (1946-1979). Every two years, a music competition named after him (the Seifert Competition) is held in Poland, aimed at young violinists, violists and cellists from around the world who play jazz and improvised music. Internationally successful competition winners and world-renowned artists will appear on the Seifert Jazz Days festival stage this year.
