As a lifelong musician, Sean Casey aka Sub Killaz, was raised in San Diego, California and was born ready to make some noise. From his early years as a teenager, Sean spent most his free time behind a drum set. While he felt his punk rock & hip hop roots were more isolating influences amongst his musical peers in high school, he spent most his time on craigslist searching and auditioning for bands that were looking for drummers, most of which were far older and much more experienced than he. Most times he would lie about his age just so he could have an opportunity to get a sit in on a session in hopes he would prove himself worthy. However, no skills could get him past the age restrictions of most the clubs in which these bands would play at and Sean soon found himself out of luck.
With a foot into the Southern California rave scene in the early 2000’s, he would soon discover the UK-based genre known as Drum & Bass and instantly fall in love with the culture. It wasn’t long after where he went to
hang out with a few of his DJ friends and sit in on a few sets, watching
closely trying to figure out was happening behind the decks. He picked it up the concept quick, borrowed some DNB records from a friend, & bought the cheapest tables he could afford. The appeal towards Drum & Bass was obvious; for Sean it embodied everything he had grown to love combining the fast paced aggression of punk music mixed with the swagger of Hip Hop. It was easy to be a fan of the music, but what he saw in DJ’ing was chance to finally find his musical outlet. Suddenly, you were not just the drummer, you were the whole band. The chemistry wasn’t built around your ability to see eye to eye with others, but more so on the vibe you can create with the crowd. To be to able to shut the world out & lock in to the music matched to the idea of being able to create a voice without having to speak, was everything to him. It seemed meant to be.
A 3 piece was then born consisting of Sean plus a couple of friends. They would slowly begin playing local shows building up connections and earning stripes amongst the OG’s of the scene. It was soon realized that to really cement your feet in the scene, it was very apparent to really make your mark you needed to be the one providing the music to the DJ’s. Once that switch flipped it began a whole new chapter. Suddenly, Sub Killaz was born.
Quick out the gate Sub Killaz won a remix competition for UK-based producer- Levela’s label Multi-Function which soon after opened to door, not just into the scene in So-Cal, but overseas as well. Working with many
UK labels and artists early on, which only fueled the fire when getting positive feedback & DJ support from names such as Dillinja, DJ Hype, Andy C, Noisia, DJ Hazard, Mefjus, Voltage, Ray Keith, DJ Marky, & many others including dubstep legends Rusko, DJ Hatcha & Funtcase. As well as acknowledgment from those outside the dnb scene, including David Rodigan & Lily Allen.
Starting originally as a duo, Sean was eventually left to take the reigns and dive full force into Sub Killaz and has yet to slow down. These days you can find his music on major outlets such as Spotify & AppleMusic, distributed through labels such as Playaz, Low Down Deep, Souped Up, Serial Killaz UK, Viper, Technique, Biological Beats, Digital Terror, Octave Recordings, Organized Grime SD & many more.

It all started in a town in Puerto Rico, two bass music djs decide to take the bass music scene in to a new town and started taking over local bars. After couple of months they saw the potential on doing a bass music show exploring new rhythms and harmonies with double drops and live mashups.
After one year of tumbling around the bass music scene down in Puerto Rico, they get their big break and headlined one of the most Iconic Drum & Bass venues of the Island with Black Sun Empire. After that the duo established them selves as one of the best talents the Island can offer.
