Som en del av verket KOMMANDO, Marielle Kalldal og Marte Dahl sitt bidrag til Skulpturpark Bergenhus festning, holder kunstnerduoen en tredagers performance-bootcamp med utgangspunkt i nettopp begrepet «kommando». Denne foregår i en lukket gruppe utgjort av 9 performancekunstnere, inkludert Marielle og Marte selv, og munner ut i en offentlig performance på festningen, søndag 21. august kl 14:00.
Performancen blir et resultat av de daglige gjøremålene og øvelsene kunstnergruppen som kollektiv har arbeidet med under bootcampen.

Ideen for prosjektet springer ut fra en interesse for kommando som fenomen, og arbeidet er en kreativ utforskning av - og en undring over - hvilke nye, kollektive erfaringer en kan gjøre seg ved å forholde seg til militærinspirerte instrukser og regler. KOMMANDO som verk åpner opp for flere tolkninger, slik også begrepet kommando kan ha ulike betydninger: det kan for eksempel vise til makt, sosiale koder eller kroppslig kontroll, men også kollektivt samhold.
Marielle Kalldal bor og arbeider i Oslo, Marte Dahl bor og arbeider i Bergen. I sitt samarbeidsprosjekt utviklet til Skulpturpark Bergenhus festning, undersøker de forholdet mellom kropp, sted og tid ved bruk av grep man kan finne både i militæret og i performancekunst.

Welcome to the performance KOMMANDO, Sunday 21. august at 14:00 at Bergenhus Festning!
As part of the work KOMMANDO, Marielle Kalldal and Marte Dahl’s contribution to Sculpture Park Bergenhus Festning, the artist duo hosts a three day performance bootcamp circling around the term «command». The group of participants consists of 9 performance artists, including Marte and Marielle themselves, and the bootcamp will end in a public performance at the fortress, Sunday 21. August at 14:00.
The performance will be a result of the daily tasks and exercises collectively performed by the artist group during the bootcamp.

ABOUT
The project circles around the phenomenon of giving and receiving commands, and is a creative exploration of – and contemplation of – which new, collective experiences can come from using instructions and rules inspired by the military. KOMMANDO opens for a number of interpretations. Command as a term can also be translated in multiple ways – into power, social codes, or bodily control, but also collective unity.
Marielle Kalldal lives and works in Oslo, Marte Dahl lives and works in Bergen. In this collaborative project, the artists examine body, place and time using methods that can be found both in the military and within the field of performance art.
