Straw Club!
Come learn about all of the beautiful art you can make with a simple stalk of wheat! Together we will explore the endangered and timeless art of wheat weaving which shows up in cultures across the globe. Each month, wheat weaver Ari Rakestraw will guide us in making a couple of easy projects together and dive into this ancient yet accessible folk art tradition. All materials will be provided. Class size is limited to 20.
9/20 - We are celebrating harvest time by making traditional drop dollies or corn dollies and spooky Halloween themed designs. This class will introduce you to the technique of straw spiraling which allows straw workers to make unique and complex figures by working straw in a round. This session will be co-lead by the author of Wheat Weaving & Straw Art: Tips, Tools, and Techniques for Learning the Craft, Linda Beiler who will be zooming in for the session.
