Panel: Mars Lindgren, Kevin Woods, Samantha Sinai and Nica Sendejas
Mars Lindgren is a seasoned trombonist whose passion for ska during high school laid the foundation for a dynamic career in music. A collaborator with several groups, he is best known for his performances with March Fourth, a Portland-based ensemble renowned for its eclectic fusion of rock, funk, jazz and world music, and helps manage March Fourth in a team position.
Member of Escape from the Zoo and Days N' Daze, Nica Sendeja has worked in every role needed to sustain life on the road over the last 12 years as stage and gear tech, sound engineer, and front-of-house coordinator to bartender, tour manager, driver, performer, and merchandiser. She is building a collective dedicated to helping emerging artists overcome the financial barriers that often prevent them from touring.
Kevin Woods’ passion for both performance and education have made him in demand as a leader and a sideman as well as a composer, arranger and clinician. He is active as a performer and author, and is professor of music and director of jazz studies at Western Washington University. He leads the group Trio Linguae, and co-leads In Motion, the Torren/Woods Duo, and Emotive Origami Ensemble.
Samantha Sinai, cellist, music therapist, and cello teacher, is a program coordinator for Bellingham Youth Chamber Players, holds a private cello studio, and plays in the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. She contracted with University of Washington Health, where she developed and implemented a music therapy program for the American Family Children’s Hospital. Through her music therapy work, she has brought music to patients in a hospital setting, kids with special needs, veterans who were previously homeless, and women who have experienced trauma.
