Title: Run To His Name And Be Safe
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." - Proverbs 18:10 (NIV)
Good morning. It’s Friday, October 17th, and we are only 41 days away from the Know Jesus Pokuase Crusade, come November 27th at the Pokuase Central Market Park! Let the anticipation of that time of deep connection motivate your faith today.
Now as the week ends, you might feel exposed; exposed to the pressures you didn’t finish, the mistakes you made, or the exhaustion that is creeping in. We all need a safe place to run when the world feels like it's closing in.
Our key scripture gives us the ultimate promise of security: "The name of the Lord is a strong tower."
This isn't just about uttering a word; it’s about accessing the person and the character that the name represents.
When you run to the name "Jesus," you are running to:
• Jesus (Savior): The one who forgives all your sins.
• Christ (Anointed One): The one who has all authority and power.
• Immanuel (God With Us): The one who is eternally present.
• Shepherd: The one who protects, guides, and provides.
Knowing Jesus intimately means instinctively running to His name in every tiny crisis. When anxiety whispers, you don't fight the fear with your own weak resolve; you run to the name Jesus, my Peace. When temptation calls, you run to the name Jesus, my Sanctifier.
The strong tower is always open, always accessible, and always safe. It doesn't matter how loud the attack is, or how exposed you feel; the moment you sincerely call on Him, you are safe inside the strength of His character.
Today, make it a practice to run to the strong tower often. Let the constant, quiet repetition of His name, and the secure intimacy it represents, be your final act of faith this week.
Pause and Reflect:
1. What "attack" or source of fear/anxiety are you currently facing that makes you feel unsafe?
2. Stop for 30 seconds. Silently repeat the name "Jesus" until you feel a shift in your focus from the problem to His presence.
3. Which of Jesus's roles (Savior, Shepherd, Healer, Peace) do you need to emphasize today as you run to Him?
Prayer:
Strong Tower Jesus, thank You for being my secure, ever-present shelter. I confess that I often try to build my own defenses, only to find them crumbling. Today, I run to the strength of Your name. When I feel vulnerable, remind me that I am safe because You are my Savior. When I feel lost, remind me that I am safe because You are my Shepherd. Fill my heart with the intimate certainty that Your character is my ultimate shield. I rest in Your name today. Amen.
