When knitting a garment from a published pattern, in order to ensure the garment will fit as intended, it is necessary to make sure that you can match the gauge quoted in the pattern. We all knit differently so the needle size suggested in the pattern may not be the needle size you require to achieve that gauge, so it is important to make a gauge swatch (or swatches) to find out what needle size you need to match the gauge.
Making a gauge swatch also lets you find out how the yarn knits up and if there is a stitch pattern, whether you enjoy knitting that stitch pattern

What to bring
+ The yarn you want to use for the gauge swatch/garment.
+ The recommended needle size from the ball band or pattern plus a couple of sizes either side of this needle size.
+ A contrast colour of a similar weight yarn to knit the marker rows and stitches.

Each workshop will be 2 hours long and have space for 10 attendees as well as the instructor and shop owner. An email will be sent out several days before with instructions on where to park and how to find us.
