About this Event
KNCJ 89.5FM, KUNR Public Radio’s classical music and jazz station, invites you to the second concert of its Biggest Little Concert Series!
On Sunday, December 29 at 11 a.m., in collaboration with the Reno Chamber Orchestra and its annual Nevada Chamber Music Festival, KNCJ will feature live performances by Festival performers: violist Molly Carr, cellist Dmitri Atapine, pianist Hyeyeon Park, and Quartet Integra. They will perform at the University of Nevada, Reno's Harlan O. & Barbara R. Hall Recital Hall.
These Sunday morning concerts, presented quarterly, will feature a combination of music performed by some of the Truckee Meadows's finest musicians, and casual conversation both musical and personal. Inspired by the legendary, long-running public radio program Saint Paul Sunday, the Biggest Little Concert Series will be a showcase for local classical musicians.
This second concert in the series highlights 2024 Nevada Chamber Music Festival performers. The program begins with Molly Carr, a Truckee Meadows native who is now violist of the Juilliard String Quartet and the Carr-Petrova Duo. She returns to Reno to perform a portion of the Viola Sonata by Paul Hindemith with pianist Hyeyeon Park, co-artistic director of both Apex Concerts and Chamber Music Kansas City and professor at the University of Nevada, Reno. After that, Hyeyeon Park joins forces with her husband, cellist Dmitri Atapine, fellow UNR professor and co-artistic director of Apex Concerts and Chamber Music Kansas City, to play a trio of miniatures by Gabriel Fauré. The concert concludes with a performance by the acclaimed Quartet Integra.
The conversation for the KNCJ Biggest Little Concert Series will be moderated by Chris Morrison, producer for KNCJ public radio.
All proceeds from these concerts will benefit KNCJ, Nevada Classical and Jazz. Support for these concerts has been provided by David Fenimore, former announcer at KUNR public radio and retired professor of English at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Open seating for this concert. Also, tickets will be available at the door starting 30 minutes before the concert -- sales will be cash-only, with exact change, please.
