KMR 2027 | Australian Mountain & Trail Running Championships

Kunanyi Mountain Run, the epic 3-day trail running festival in Hobart, Tasmania, returns in 2027. Events range from the Foothills 5km, all the way to the brand-new 80km Ultra.
In 2027, we're proud to host the very first combined Australian Mountain and Trail Running Championships (AMTRC2027) - which are embedded within KMR's existing event program.
So whether you're vying for a spot on the Australian team that competes at the World Championships in South Africa, or you're entering your very first trail run or hike, there's a place for everyone at KMR.
The new 80km Ultra event is the Australian Long Trail Championship Event. It involves climbing and descending almost 5,000m; that's the equivalent of four times up and down Kunanyi/Mt Wellington! If you’re thinking about it, 2027 is your year. We may not see the 80km Ultra return outside of the Champs year.
But KMR isn't just about big distances. We have events for every level of experience including our Foothills 5km and the Kids Runs.
The Palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal people) generously welcome and share Kunanyi with trail runners. And we invite you too. To connect with nature, with community and culture, with yourself, and with Kunanyi - Hobart's iconic mountain.
Thousands of runners and supporters have started their own KMR stories. Will you join us in 2027?
