KMconcepts Basic Handgun Safety Course

Want to take the first steps in owning a handgun? KMConcepts Handgun Safety Class meets and exceeds Hawaii's Training Requirements and is taught by certified instructors.

How long is the class?

The class takes 1 day, we begin at 8am and end the day at 4pm. Includes classroom instruction (905 Kalanianaole Hwy Kailua,Hawaii #1901), and practical range instruction which is completed at Kokohead Shooting Range . After successful completion of the course you will receive an affidavit which is required by the State of Hawaii when applying for a handgun permit. Please note that we do not provide a shuttle to Kokohead Shooting Range, please arrange transportation accordingly.

What should i expect?

A Gradual progression from lightweight low recoiling firearms, modern defensive firearms, and revolvers. Safety is the number one priority and students may choose to stay on a particular firearm if they want to. Please understand that this class although not strenuous may require some physical effort.

UPDATE: Due to the nationwide ammunition shortage certain calibers may not be available to shoot in class.

What should i bring?

Bring note taking material and snacks for the classroom portion of the course. We will provide all the firearms and ammunition. What you will need to bring are mandatory Eye and Ear protection along with covered shoes. Many people opt to wear sunglasses or prescription glasses. Please bring a valid form of Identification (ie. drivers license).

How much is the class & can my children attend?

Class is $189 per person. Children age 17 and below must be accompanied by an adult and Children 9-12 years may fire .22 caliber only. Please note that we also do Private Classes for groups of 10 or more, this is perfect for family or groups of friends, contact us for price & scheduling. FAQs

Can I reschedule my original class date if I cannot make it?

NO . Due to the demand for classes we do not allow any rescheduling. The only exception to rescheduling is if KMconcepts needs to postpone class for emergency reasons.

Do you have a town location?

NO we have recently moved our classroom from Kapiolani to Kailua. Please see the video attached below for directions beginning from the main road on Kapaa Quarry to the actual classroom location.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not necessary. Please bring a valid form of ID instead.

Does having a medical Marijuana card automatically disqualify me from owning a firearm?

According to HRS 134 regarding Medical Marijuana Cardholders , YES it does.
