Our activity has the potential to be messy, so plan to dress accordingly.
KMC CO-OP in the Woods is a cooperative playgroup designed for young children aged 2-5y, though all ages are welcome! Our playgroup meets weekly at Seewoog rain or shine. Each week will focus on a certain theme and follow a predictable rhythm including storytime, songs, activities, and picnic lunch. Members are welcome to join when they can - there is no commitment to attend each week. You can come late or leave early as your schedule requires.
What age children are welcome?
The short answer is that everyone is welcome! The long answer is that the playgroup is targeted toward children aged 2-5y. However, if you have a child that doesn’t fit in that range, but you still think they would have fun, please come! Even if you just have a baby and want to get out of the house, you’re more than welcome! When you RSVP please indicate how many children you expect will want to actively participate in the playgroup. This helps plan for materials.
Where will we meet?
The playgroup will be held at Seewoog near the playground. We will set up on the grass by the bridge. We will utilize the nearby patch of woods, playground, and picnic tables throughout the year, but our main base will remain in the same spot by the bridge.
What about inclement weather?
We will meet weekly rain or shine. Some weather might alter our plan for the week – for instance a downpour could mean we replace storytime with something else. In case of thunderstorms, high winds, and other dangerous conditions, playgroup will be canceled. A notice will be posted ASAP on the event page if cancelation is necessary.
What should I expect upon arrival?
Arrive with your children and join us at our location near the bridge. We will begin playgroup with free play and exploration as friends arrive. We will also take this time to set up a community snack. Bring something if you wish and share with fellow playgroup members. When everyone is settled, we will begin with our welcome song and flow through the daily rhythm as listed. We will end with more free play and those that wish to stay can join us for a picnic lunch.
