BALAGOLE BAND takes you on a journey between Klezmer, Eastern European grooves and hypnotic melodies. Concert at 22h - welcome to grab a beer and join the good vibe at Cafe Multa before!
Free entry - donation recommended!
Balagole - Yiddish for "wagon driver" - were the travelers of old Europe, carrying goods, stories, and music on their way. That restless, border-crossing spirit is the heart of this trio.
Violin, viola, and double bass weave together klezmer, Eastern European folk, early music (baroque, renaissance), contemporary sounds, and rare treasures from ancient Romanian tradition like Anton Pann and the Codex Caioni. Music that traveled, survived, transformed - and still carries something essential about the cultures that made it.
Founded in 2025, Balagole Band became the resident ensemble of the "Milmoul" cabaret evenings in Brussels. They've performed at the Brussels Jewish Music Festival, events organized by the European Commission, and at the Maison Jonniaux in Pommereoul as part of the Devoir de Mémoire conferences. They play on gut strings - authentic, passionate, and rooted in the living traditions of these songs and dances.
They're on a mission to share their passion for diversity in migrant music cultures.
On Saturday May 30 at 22h, Balagole takes over Café Multatuli for a groovy and intense concert: intimate, unpredictable and full of life.
Katja Katanova - violin
Cornelia Zambila - viola, composition
Shaya Feldman - double bass, percussion, composition
