Kitsilano Beach Cleanup - Hosted by Shoreline Rescue Club & Home Hardware

Join us for a community beach cleanup at Kits Beach on Monday, June 1st.

Co-hosted by Shoreline Rescue Club and Home Hardware, this is a community-driven initiative to help protect the BC coast and give back to the shorelines and the ocean we call home.

• Free to attend and open to all. Help keep our beaches clean and be part of something meaningful.
• Free giveaways for volunteers and raffle prizes for participants.
• Beach cleanup supplies provided.
• Come with friends, or ride solo and meet people in your community who care about the health of our environment and are willing to give their time and energy to help protect it.
• Help us to clean up our shorelines and keep garbage out of the ocean.

*This event is hosted by Shoreline Rescue Club and sponsored by Home Hardware, meaning everything you need to clean is provided for you, and it's free to attend. All prizes, giveaways, and supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own tongs and buckets if you have them!

Info: Greet your clean up leaders, sign in, and obtain beach cleanup equipment. We know you might be coming from work, so we will give everyone a little extra grace period before we start our cleanup!

Info: Meet the squad, and go over safety protocols, shape of the day, and beach cleanup boundaries.

Info: Scan the beach and surrounding area for garbage, recycling, and any other in organic material. Split into groups and scan the sand, the grass, the vegetation and collect anything that shouldn't be there. During this time if you need more garbage bags or buckets, report back to HQ to resupply.

Info: Return to HQ to sort out any all collected items to be recycled or disposed of appropriately. Return and borrowed equipment and begin to pack up.

Info: Gather all participants together to celebrate and acknowledge efforts of participants and sponsors, give out draw prizes, and wrap up with a few quick and easy games to give out some prizes from sponsors. Closing remarks from organizers farewells.
