Kitchen Magic: A Hands-On Herbalism Workshop

Step into the world of the green witch and discover how your kitchen can become a place of both nourishment and enchantment. In this class, we will explore the wise woman traditions of healing, an ancient lineage of herbal knowledge that lives within us and is waiting to be remembered. Together, we will learn how to infuse honeys, vinegars, and oils with seasonal herbs to create potions that are as delicious in the kitchen as they are powerful for medicine.

We will begin with a grounding in the roots of herbal medicine, exploring how everyday foods like honey, vinegar, and oil have long been used as healing allies. Then, using both fresh and dried herbs, some sourced directly from local farms, we will create our own herbal preparations. Expect to meet plants that flourish in late summer and early fall, including those woven with magical lore such as mugwort, lavender, and sage.

Each participant will craft and take home two 4oz jars of their choice: a honey, vinegar, oil, or oxymel infused with herbs that speak to them. Along the way, you will learn practical techniques, plant wisdom, and creative ways to bring a little natural magic into your daily meals.

This class is lighthearted, hands-on, and fun, a space to connect, get creative, and remember the kitchen as a place of healing and wonder.

Rachael works and teaches at Flower Power Roots and Herbs in the East Village and is currently apprenticing with renowned herbalist Robin Rose Bennett. She is passionate about holistic healing and whole-food nutrition, weaving together plant wisdom with the art of nourishment. This class reflects her love of herbalism and her joy in creating healthy, delicious meals, showing how everyday foods can be transformed with the magic and medicine of herbs.
