About this Event

Join Gentle Steps Women’s Movement Collective for Kismet, a South Asian Heritage Month celebration bringing women together for an afternoon of culture, community and creativity.

This event is open to women aged 18+.

We’ll begin with our regular Gentle Steps community walk through Alexandra Park, meeting at 11:00am outside Bembe Café (pond side). After the walk, we’ll head to Chorlton Lodge (M16 7JH), within Alexandra Park, for a relaxed community picnic from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.

Throughout the afternoon you can enjoy:

🌿 Community picnic
🥘 South Asian starters kindly provided by Kaana (allergy information available)
🥁 Live dhol performance
🎤 Spoken word, poetry and singing
🧘 Accessible yoga
💬 Storytelling, conversation and the chance to connect with women from different generations and backgrounds

You’re very welcome to bring a nut and alcohol-free dish to share (optional) and your own picnic blanket.

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we encourage everyone to bring reusable plates, cups and cutlery where possible to help reduce waste. If it’s accessible for you, we also encourage travelling by walking, wheeling or public transport to support cleaner air and climate-friendly travel.

Please note that activities and timings may be subject to change.

Follow us on Instagram @gentlesteps.wmc for updates.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you! 🌿

Tickets: This is a pay-what-you-can event (£2-£4.50). A limited number of free tickets are available. If cost is a barrier, please get in touch. Donations on the day are also welcome.
