Kirtan is more than music – it's a powerful practice that blends sacred mantra, rhythm, and community to open the heart and awaken the spirit. Through call-and-response chanting, drumming, and collective energy, we'll journey inward while lifting each other up in ecstatic joy.
Expect soulful melodies, high-energy grooves, and moments of deep stillness – all in a space of love, connection, and spiritual celebration. Whether you're a seasoned chanter or brand new to kirtan, you are warmly welcome. Come as you are and let your voice be part of something magical. Bring your voice, your heart, and your open spirit. ** Mike Cohen has released four critically acclaimed Kirtan albums Om Dattatreya (2009), Soul Contact (2012), Illumination (2016) and Chants for Challenging Times (2020), the last two albums with Grammy nominated producer Ben Leinbach. For close to two decades Mike has shared his brand of accessible & potent sacred chant across North America. ABOUT KIRTAN LEADER INSTITUTE Mike Cohen is founder of Kirtan Leader Institute where he has trained and apprenticed thousands of aspiring Kirtan Leaders since 2010. Mike teaches total beginners through highly advanced students, and has guided many of his students to build thriving chant communities and write compelling original music. KLI is a full-on school and runs online group classes, self-guided classes, sacred chant mentorships, and in person intensives (in Boulder, CO) throughout the year. A marker of success is that twenty of KLI's students & alumni have released professional recordings of their original chants.
