Looking forward to an evening of mantra chanting and Kirtan at Sahara studio! This one will be just a few days before MahaShivarathri – so the energy will be building for this auspicious day.
The evening will involve the chanting vedic mantras such as the Gayatri Mantra and Om. Later we will sing some kirtans accompanied by a harmonium.
Kirtans are chants that use simple melodies that involve singing the names of the divine with its roots going back many centuries in India. Kirtan is a devotional practice that awakens the presence of the divine within the heart and invokes feelings of bliss and love. This practice raises consciousness and is energising, purifying and healing for the body and mind.
I have been sharing and leading kirtans for several years and have spent time over the last few decades visiting ashrams in India and learning both devotional singing and Vedic chanting. Its a wonderful experience to share these devotional events that brings people together and raise the vibrations of the planet.
Feel free to bring a percussion instrument if you are confident in accompanying singing. Any kirtan singers are also welcome to make a musical offering.
Suggested donation for the evening will be £8 or £5 (concession). Feel free to get in touch if you really want to be there and cannot afford.
