Kip Attaway w/Sammy Brue
About this Event
Kip, originally from Mount Pleasant, Texas, relocated to Idaho in the early 1970s to escape legal troubles. During this time, he became associated with notable figures in the music scene, including Pinto Bennett and Muzzie Braun. Kip's musical career took off with his first LP, which featured hits like "Rock Springs to Cheyenne" and "Wild Western Wind Blown Band." His success continued as he won the Marlboro Country Music Talent Roundup in California. After the disbandment of his group, he settled in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he played a pivotal role in connecting various artists with influential songwriters.
In the course of his career, Kip has collaborated with renowned musicians, teaching Jerry Jeff Walker the song "Trashy Women," which led to a connection with songwriter Chris Wall. He also introduced Robert Earl Keen to the music of Fred Eaglesmith. Over the years, Kip has released twelve additional CDs and has developed a unique solo career that blends comedy and music, performing globally in venues from Hawaii to Australia.
Sammy Brue emerges as a modern troubadour, crafting intricate story songs that reflect the complexities of human experience. His latest album, "The Journals," honors his late mentor Justin Townes Earle by incorporating previously unreleased songs sourced from Earle's journals, which were entrusted to him by Earle's widow.
