In this beginner-friendly, relaxing 1.5-hour workshop, you will learn how to transform ordinary pieces of cloth and a foam board base into a vibrant piece of gallery-ready wall art. Originating in Japan in the 1980s, Kinusaiga involves carving or pressing a design into specialized board and tucking fabric edges cleanly into the grooves. It is clean, sustainable, highly meditative, and surprisingly easy to master.

What You Will Learn

The History & Basics: Understand the core concepts of Kinusaiga and how it mimics the look of stained glass or painting using cloth.

Design Transfer: Learn how to apply and trace a template onto a prepared foam base.

Fabric Selection & Cutting: Discover which fabric textures, weights, and prints work best for gradients, lines, and focal points.

The Tucking Technique: Master the use of basic tools (like a stylus or seam ripper) to neatly tuck and secure fabrics into the scored channels.
