Kinusaiga for Beginners
About this Event
Kinusaiga is a modern Japanese fabric art form created less than 50 years ago! Kinusaiga artwork is made by pushing the edges of fabric scraps into pre-cut grooves in wood or foam board to form intricate patterns. Original kinusaiga fabric mosaics were made using wood, knives, scraps from silk kimonos, needles and adhesive.
In this beginning kinusaiga class, you will be using foam board, X-ACTO knives, seam rippers, double-sided adhesive sheets, and cotton fabric to create your own work of art, using the fabric colors of your choice. By the end of class, you’ll have a framed kinusaiga landscape of your own and the skills to continue to explore this fascinating art form!
