Liverpoolské indie rockové duo King Hannah, které tvoří Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, se chystá 21. září do Underdogs'. Na Smíchově představí i své nové album 'Big Swimmer', které vychazí 31. května na berlínském labelu City Slang. Album čerpá inspiraci z dřívejších turné po Státech, kam si King Hannah jako doprovod pozvali třeba Kurt Vile nebo Thurston Moore, a kde si dvojice často připadala, jako by se ocitla ve filmech 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' nebo 'Badlands'. Desku produkoval Ali Chant (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding, Perfume Genius...) a na dvou tracích se jako hostka objevila i kapelou obdivovaná indie stálice Sharon Van Etten.
Před King Hannah zahraje švýcarská písničkářka Pina Palau, která se nechává inspirovat jmény jako Adrienne Lenker (Big Thief), Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers, Joan Baez nebo Patti Smith, přitom si zachovává svůj vlastní styl. Bývalá studentka medicíny je nyní jako doma na pódiích, kde předskakovala třeba Courtney Barnett a Alex Lahey.

On their first tour of the United States, King Hannah could hardly believe where their debut record had taken them. The Liverpool indie rock duo, composed of Hannah Merrick and Craig Whittle, were in the middle of the southwestern deserts of New Mexico, among other places they’d only seen portrayed in films and television. Their stubborn determination and sheer guts to swim hard towards their carefully planned vision, positively unquestionably, had landed them head-first in a scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Badlands or one of the several true crime documentaries they’d enjoy when off the road. Being in a new place opened their eyes to common occurrences that they may have ignored had they happened in Liverpool, with a new perspective. Much of the band’s sophomore record, Big Swimmer, reflects on stories from their travels, as the duo shared the stage with Kurt Vile, Thurston Moore, and festivals throughout Europe and North America. Particularly in America, Merrick and Whittle found themselves looking through their tour van window as a sort of screen, allowing for inspiration for their storytelling to come pouring in.
King Hannah will share the stage with Swiss singer-songwriter Pina Palau. She has supported the likes such as Courtney Barnett and Alex Lahey and has graced lineups at prestigious events like the Reeperbahn Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival. By her side she has a magnificent band intertwining dark, fuzzy guitars, melodic bass lines, and a drum set as dry as Pina Palau’s humor. She draws inspiration from notable figures like Adrienne Lenker (Big Thief), Julia Jacklin, Phoebe Bridgers, Joan Baez, and Patti Smith, staying true to her style at the same time.
