We humbly acknowledge that this event is taking place on the traditional unceded (stolen) territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
Please, do your part to learn about their rich cultural histories, remain informed of the ongoing legacy of the colonization of this land, and give your support to the following local organizations:
- Victoria Native Friendship Centre provides services to an estimated 20,000 Indigenous people living off reserve in the greater Victoria area, the 5,000 residents from the First Nations communities in the southern Vancouver Island region, and a sizeable Indigenous population from across Canada.
- Indigenous Perspectives Society is a charitable and not-for-profit social enterprise that offers specialized training and consulting services to help foster a deeper understanding of Indigenous perspectives, cultural differences, and the need for self-determination. Supporting Indigenous children, families, and communities is at the heart of IPS.
